Individual Forbidden Acts
These are the Individual forbidden acts in which a person's personality favors committing the forbidden act, which are as follows:
1. Shirk and Kufr forbidden (Haram).
SHIRK:-means associating a partner with Allah or giving someone the same honor and reverence as Allah. One who commits shirk is called a Mushrik (polytheist). These are people who believe, along with Allah, directly or indirectly, in someone else as well.
Example.
Saints and Shrines! Many ignorant Muslims accord the same honor and reverence to saints and shrines as they do to Allah. I myself have witnessed such polytheistic Muslims who perhaps visit mosques only two or four times a year, but hardly any Thursday will be empty at the shrines.
KUFR means worshipping things made by one's own hands, such as idols. Or worshipping a creature made by God is called kufr. A person who disbelieves is called a kafir.
Example.
Many religions!Although they have the concept of one God, when it comes to worship, they worship idols, moon, sun, stars, humans, animals, angels, Saints, and even crawling insects.
Q-06:14-15Say: Shall I take a guardian other than Allah, when He is the Creator of the heavens and the earth, and he feeds everyone, but does not eat himself. Say: I am commanded to be the first of the believers, and that I should not be among the polytheists. (14) Say: I fear, if I disobey my Lord, that I shall be punished on a tremendous day.
Allah Almighty can forgive any sin of a person, but only polytheism and disbelief are so serious that He will never forgive them. All their good deeds will be lost and they will have no share in the Hereafter.
Q-04:116Verily, Allah does not forgive that partners be ascribed to Him, but He forgives all other sins for whomever He wills. And whoever associates partners with Allah has indeed strayed far away.
Q-04:48" Surely Allah will never forgive associating anyone with Him, but He will forgive all other sins to whomever He wishes. And whoever associates partners with Allah has certainly fabricated a grave sin."
Q-31:13And (remember) when Luqman advised his son, saying: "O my son! Do not associate anything with Allah. Indeed, polytheism is a great injustice."
2. Breaking the covenant with God is forbidden (Haram).
Those who break their covenant with Allah will have no share in the Hereafter. Allah will not purify these impure people. Those who break Allah's covenant are disbelievers. Allah says: Whoever becomes a Muslim and then turns away from his religion, and does not return to faith before death, all his deeds are rendered void. Such hypocrites will have no share in the Hereafter.
Q-03:77Surely, those who sell the covenant of Allah and their oaths for a small price will have no share in the Hereafter. Allah will not speak to them. On the Day of Resurrection, He will not even look at them. He will not purify them, and for them is a painful punishment.
Allah says: And do not sell the covenant of Allah (faith) for a small price. What is with Allah is better for you, if you only knew. That is, those who neglect the wealth of faith and run after world wealth will find that worldly wealth has been left behind. But whatever you send towards Allah (i.e. good deeds), will remain. And those who are patient even in poverty due to their devotion to God and thank God for it.
Allah will grant them a reward equal to their best deeds for their patience. That is, whoever performs righteous deeds and believes in the One Allah and His verses (whether male or female). Allah will grant them the finest life in the gardens of Paradise as a reward for their deeds.
Q-16:95-97And do not sell the covenant of Allah (faith) for a small price. What Allah has is better for you, if you only know. (95) Whatever (worldly wealth and possessions) you have will perish, and (Yours sent) what is with Allah will remain. And We will reward those who exercise patience (in hardship) according to their best deeds. (96) Whoever performs righteous deeds, whether male or female, and is a believer, we will grant them an excellent life (in this world and the Hereafter). And We will reward them according to their best deeds. (97)
3. Hypocrisy is forbidden (Haram).
And those who became hypocrites, and their disbelief continued to increase, Allah will never accept their repentance. Because these people are misguided. Such misguided hypocrites, even if they were to spend all the gold on earth, it would not be accepted. All their deeds in this world and the Hereafter have been rendered worthless. These people are the inhabitants of Hell.
Q-03:90-91Surely, those who embrace disbelief after having believed, and then their disbelief increases, their repentance will never be accepted. And these are the ones who have gone astray. (90) Surely, those who disbelieved and died while disbelievers, not even all the gold on earth would be accepted from them. These are the ones for whom there is a painful punishment. And they will have no help. (91)
Q-02:217And those of you who turn back from their religion and die while they are disbelievers, their deeds will be in vain in this world and the Hereafter, and they will be companions of Hell, to abide therein forever.
4. Sorcery and amulets are forbidden.
Sorcery (witchcraft) and amulets! Those who sell and those who buy these evil things—both incur disbelief. Allah says: In the Hereafter, these people will have no share, like the disbelievers. Allah has called this act disbelief in the Quran. This knowledge possesses two types of characteristics.
FIRST!The satanic knowledge of Satan, which is contaminated with disbelief and filth.
Secondry!the knowledge revealed by Allah, or that which is misused by adding bad words to the verses of Allah or distorting them.
In ancient times, Allah sent this knowledge to the earth through two angels, Harut and Marut. However, the purpose of sending this knowledge to the earth was merely a test, not a blessing. Therefore, this knowledge was also given power. Whoever among mankind desired to acquire this knowledge from the angels—the angels would make it clear to him that this knowledge is merely disbelief (kufr), and this was done so that Allah could distinguish between the believers and the disbelievers.
Q-02:102People followed this sorcery, which the devils spread during the reign of Solomon (ﷺ) Solomon (ﷺ) did not commit disbelief, but rather the Devils committed disbelief, as they were the ones who taught people sorcery.
Q-02:102And they (spiritual sorcery) also learned that which was sent down upon two angels, Harut and Marut, in Babylon. Those two (angels) would not teach anyone unless they said, 'We are only a trial, so do not disbelieve.' Yet people learned from them that (sorcery) which causes separation between husband and wife. But they could not harm anyone with it, except by the permission of Allah.
Q-02:102-103And that which they learned of sorcery brought them only harm, and no benefit. Although they well knew that whoever purchased it would have no share in the Hereafter. And surely those who sold it made an evil transaction with their souls. If only they had known! (102) And if they had believed and feared Allah, the reward from Allah would have been far better. If only they understood! (103)
Q-113:01-05Say: I seek refuge with the Lord who is the Master of the daybreak (1) from every evil that He has created. (2) And from the evil that is done when darkness falls. (3) And from the evil of those who blow on knots (those who practice sorcery). (4) And from the envy of the envious. (5)
5. Gambling and lottery are forbidden.
Gambling and dice throwing (lottery or other games involving bets) are impure; they are the work of Satan. Therefore, stay away from them completely. These things are haram.
Q-05:90-91O you who believe! Surely wine/intoxicants, gambling, idols, and the arrows of lottery are unclean—they are the works of Satan. So, avoid them altogether, so that you may prosper. (90) Satan desires to sow enmity and hatred among you through wine and gambling, and to turn you away from the remembrance of Allah and from prayer. Will you not, then, desist? (91)
6. Usury (interest) is forbidden.
Interest is the excess that is taken in the form of a loan or credit. Modern banking, commission, or any fixed profit taken in any form is riba (usury). Allah has forbidden usury.
Q-02:275-276Those who consume usury are like a person whom Satan has touched and driven into a state of madness. This is because they claim that usury is like trading. In fact, Allah Almighty has made trading lawful and usury unlawful. Thus, whoever desists after receiving an admonition from his Lord may keep what he gained in the past, and his case is left to Allah's judgment. But those who return to usury are the inhabitants of the Fire, where they will remain forever.(275)
Allah wipes out usury and increases charity. And Allah does not like ungrateful, sinful people. (276)
Q-03:130-131O you who believe! Do not consume usury, double and quadruple, repeatedly, and fear Allah that you may prosper. (130) And guard yourselves against the Fire which is prepared for the disbelievers.
7. Arrogance is forbidden.
Arrogance is the sin in which a person considers himself superior to others, refuses to accept the truth, or is proud of the blessings of Allah. Consider the livelihood given by God as a storehouse of your intelligence and hard work instead of a test. And make it a cause of your pride and arrogance. This is the path of Shaitan.
The arrogance that turned even the righteous servant of God (Iblis) into a rejected devil. Indeed, that arrogance is forbidden. Indeed, that arrogance is forbidden. God does not like both arrogance and the arrogant.
Q-02:34And (remember) when We said to the angels, "Prostrate yourselves before Adam." They prostrated themselves, except Iblis. He denied it and was arrogant, and he joined the disbelievers.
Allah addresses those who walk arrogantly upon the earth, intoxicated by the power of wealth or status, reminding them that they can neither render the earth asunder with the stomp of their feet nor reach the height of the mountains. What, then, is the basis for such pride?
After a few fleeting years of youth come trembling bones, and ultimately, one becomes part of the very earth upon which they once walked so haughtily. Whereas for billions of years the Earth has contained within its layers the birth, rise and fall of countless creatures.
Q-17:37-38And do not walk arrogantly on the earth. You cannot cleave the earth, nor can you reach the heights of the mountains. (37) These are the evils of arrogance, which are most abhorrent in the sight of your Lord. (38)
Q-04:36Indeed, God does not love the arrogant.
All honor belongs solely to Allah. Allah loves this specific attribute (honor) for His messengers and those faithful servants who perform righteous deeds. But those who desperately seek honor through force and employ wicked schemes ultimately face the consequence that Allah curses these arrogant people. And that is:
God seals His signs (the light of guidance) upon them. If such people pass by this light (the verses) unknowingly, they pass by like blind people. Because Allah writes the darkness of misguidance in their lives, on which they keep stumbling and falling.
Q-63:08So, all honor is for Allah, and for His Messenger, and for the believers, but the hypocrites do not know.
Q-35:10Whoever desires honor, then all honor is for Allah. Pure speech ascends to Him, and good deeds elevate Him. And those who plot evil, for them is a severe punishment, and their plotting will be in vain.
Q-07:146Allah says: I will keep My signs away from those who are arrogant on earth without right. If they see every sign, they will not believe in it; and if they see the straight path, they will not take it as their path; and if they see the path of error, they will take it as their path. That is because they denied Our signs and were heedless of them.
8. Prioritizing worldly desires over religion is forbidden.
Those men or women who become slaves to their carnal desires, or who make wealth, fame, positions, or other material pleasures the primary goal of their lives, and for their attainment ignore religious values, obligations, and moral boundaries in Allah's estimation, these people are in a worse condition than animals. Therefore, there is no point in also conveying the message of truth to these people.
The Quran repeatedly states that the pleasures of this temporary world are insignificant compared to the Hereafter, and that faith requires us to prioritize the pleasure of Allah in our actions and priorities. Therefore, prioritizing worldly desires over religion puts us on the list of hypocrites.
NOTE:-Understand this point very clearly here: Being born in a Muslim home and called a Muslim is not a guarantee of Paradise. Nor will any recommendation be of any use. Paradise has to be earned. Allah says: 'Do you think you will enter Paradise just like that? Whereas you have not yet seen those tests that came upon the people before you.' I will not prove this note here, otherwise the topic will deviate. God willing, if I live, I will discuss this topic in the future.
Q-16:107-109That is because they preferred the life of this world to the Hereafter, and because Allah does not guide the unbelievers. (107) These are the ones on whose hearts, hearing, and sight Allah has sealed. And these are the people who are heedless. (108) Indeed, they will be the losers in the Hereafter. (109)
Q-03:14Desires are desirable things for people, such as women, children, heaps of gold and silver, special horses, cattle and crops. All these are the benefits of the life of this world, and with Allah it is the best destination.
Q-25:43-44O Muhammad: Have you seen the one who has made his desire his god? Are you then able to be his guardian? (No)! (43). Do you think that most of them hear or understand? (No)! They are like cattle, nay, they are more astray from the path than cattle. (44)
Q-87:14-17Indeed, he has succeeded in (14) who purifies himself and remembers the name of his Lord and establishes prayer. (15) Nay, you prefer the life of this world. (16) But the Hereafter is better and lasting. (17)
world life Vs afterlife.
Allah Almighty sets an example for those who run after the life of this world and informs them of their end in the Hereafter.
And present before them the example of worldly life: it is like the water We send down from the sky, which mingles with the earth's vegetation making it lush and thick; then it becomes dry straw scattered by the winds. Allah is powerful over all things. (45)
Wealth and children are the adornments of world life, but enduring righteous deeds remain those which are also better in the sight of your Lord in terms of reward, and better in terms of hope. (46)
And the Day We set the mountains in motion, and you see the earth as a level plain; then We will gather them all together, and then We will not spare any of them who are disobedient (47).
And all the defiant ones will be presented before your Lord in ranks. (It will be said to them): 'You have come to Us just as We created you the first time rather. Nay, you thought that We would not appoint for you any promise (of punishment or reward?). (48)
And when the record of deeds is placed before them, you will see the criminals fearful of what is written therein, saying: 'Alas for us! What kind of book is this that leaves out neither the small sin nor the great sin, but records everything exactly?' And they will find present all that they have done, and your Lord will not wrong anyone even by the weight of a speck. (49)
