Iman (Faith).

Iman (Faith) is that pure and sincere conviction of the heart which, alongside total devotion to the One Allah and His signs, encompasses firm belief in His angels, His revealed scriptures, His prophets and messengers, and the Day of Judgment (the Day of Justice). It is not merely information; rather, it is serenity for the soul and tranquility for the heart.

• The first step taken on the path of Islam is Iman (faith); and this is the very element that reflects the inner steadfastness inherent in the pledge of true commitment.

• This is the key that transforms Outward acknowledgment into inward conviction.

Allah Almighty teaches us that righteousness does not depend on turning one's face towards the East or the West, but rather on the nature of a person's faith. Whether the *Qibla* for prayer is Masjid al-Aqsa or Masjid al-Haram! these are merely outward forms; true righteousness belongs to the one who sincerely believes in Allah, the Last Day, the angels, the Scriptures, and all the prophets.

Q-02:177

Righteousness is not that you turn your faces towards the East and the West; rather, righteousness belongs to the one who believes in Allah, the Last Day, the angels, the sacred books, and the prophets.

Verbal claim and genuine Iman.

A verbal profession can never be a substitute for true Iman. Not everyone who enters the Islam is a true believer, despite their declaration. For instance, a person might embrace Islam solely for worldly expediency, or despite being born into a Muslim family, might lack genuine conviction in their heart regarding Allah, His signs, the Day of Judgment, the angels, the Scriptures, and the Prophets. In the sight of Allah, these people are not counted among the believers, even though society and the world call them Muslims.

According to the Quran, faith is not merely a religious identity, a verbal profession, or an inherited spirituality; rather, it is essential for every individual to strive for faith and its maturation from the very beginning. This is why, on the Day of Judgment, a father will not be held accountable for his son's deeds, nor will a son be held accountable for his father's deeds. Faith is the unhesitating acceptance of the truth, obedience to Allah and His commands, and an inner state that manifests itself in a person's thoughts, character, morals, and actions. It is the light that illuminates every action of the servant.

Q-49:14

The Bedouins say, "We have believed." Say, "You have not yet believed; rather, say, 'We have submitted [to Islam],' for faith has not yet entered your hearts. And if you obey Allah and His Messenger, He will not diminish [the reward of] your deeds in the least. Indeed, Allah is Most Forgiving, Most Merciful."

The second part of the aforementioned verse conveys the glad tidings of faith. That is, for those who have outwardly entered the fold of Islam but have not yet attained the blessing of true faith. if they embrace the path of truth and obey Allah and His commandments—the doors of forgiveness are open to them. Indeed, Allah is the Most Forgiving, the Most Merciful.

An important truth becomes evident here: "A person may be called a Muslim based on social background or outward affiliation, but faith is a state that permeates the heart, attained solely through Allah’s grace when a person turns towards Him." Faith is the essence that transforms a person into a true believer.

Outer Islam, Inner Iman.

Iman (faith), Islam, and being a Muslim are not separate entities; rather, they are different facets of the same reality. The moment a person believes in Allah and His signs, they enter Islam, and whoever enters Islam is a Muslim. These three are links in a single chain, interconnected with one another.

“From a social perspective, "Islam" signifies outward conduct or appearance, whereas "Iman" (faith) represents the inner state of the heart. Faith is the fundamental element that embodies "true sincerity and steadfastness of the heart"; it is the key factor that imbues the verbal profession of faith with genuine meaning and significance. Undoubtedly, the person who embraces Islam with true faith is a genuine Muslim”.

Degrees of Iman.

Allah Almighty has bestowed various ranks upon His righteous servants in accordance with their deeds. These ranks are determined not on the basis of worldly grandeur, lineage, or wealth, but solely on the criteria of deeds and sincerity.

In this mortal world, some are kings while others are paupers, yet all are equal in the sight of Allah. In His presence, neither thrones and crowns nor wealth and riches hold any significance; Allah looks only at the state of hearts and the righteousness of deeds.

Allah Almighty promises a reward to those who sincerely believe in Him, His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), and His signs, and who—in the light of this faith—perform righteous deeds in accordance with His commands. This very Iman is the foundation for attaining nearness to Allah. In the Holy Quran, Allah Almighty guides such people and honors them with the status of a believer; and every believer is an heir to the *Jannat-e-Edn* (Gardens of Paradise).

There is also a special and supreme station among all believers: the station of *Taqwa* (fear of God and constant mindfulness of Him). Allah Almighty bestows an exalted status upon those who adopt *Taqwa*. Indeed, these are the righteous individuals who excel in the sight of Allah through their sense of devotion, their spirit of justice and fairness, and their exemplary conduct within society.

When a believing servant seeks peace of heart through acts of personal worship (prayer, praise, and glorification) and social worship (Zakat and charitable aid) with sincere Iman, Allah Almighty grants that believer further guidance; attaining higher spiritual ranks, he becomes an heir to *Jannat-ul-Firdous* and *Jannat-un-Na'im*.

Q-17:21

See how We have favored some of them over others; and in the Hereafter, there are greater ranks [commensurate with their rewards] and greater distinctions.

Q-06:132

And for everyone there are ranks [of reward and punishment] according to their deeds; and your Lord is not unaware of what they do.

Q-05:09

Allah has promised those who believe and do righteous deeds: for them, there is forgiveness and a great reward.

Q-04:124

And whoever performs righteous deeds, whether male or female, while being a believer. They will enter Paradise and will not be wronged in the least.

Q-49:13

Indeed, the most honored among you in the sight of Allah is the one who is most righteous (The Pious). Surely, Allah is All-Knowing.

Q-09:07

Indeed, Allah loves the God-fearing (the pious).

Understand clearly that "Muslim" is not merely a simple word; rather, it encompasses countless hidden spiritual stations and degrees that narrate the story of man's nearness to Allah Almighty. In the Holy Quran, Allah Almighty has repeatedly highlighted five specific stations among them. However, only Allah knows best how many further degrees exist within these five places based on deeds.

First: Muslim.

A person who merely claims to have faith is also a Muslim. Who has verbally professed the *Kalimah* but in whose heart the warmth of faith has not yet deeply penetrated—if that profession is sincere—he will also act upon the verses in which he has believed. Thus, action coupled with faith is the key through which Allah Almighty grants guidance.

Q-49:14

The Bedouins say, "We have believed." Say, "You have not [yet] believed; rather, say, 'We have submitted [to Islam],' for faith has not yet entered your hearts. And if you obey Allah and His Messenger, He will not diminish [the reward of] your deeds in the least. Indeed, Allah is Forgiving, Most Merciful."

Q-10:09

Indeed, as for those who believed and performed righteous deeds, their Lord guides (Hidaya) them by virtue of their faith.

Second: Momin (Believer).

These are the Muslims who have attained guidance and are the heirs to the Gardens of Eden. By virtue of worshipping Allah and following His commands, Allah grants these believing (Momin) servants’ further guidance toward the station of righteousness (Taqwa). To attain Allah's pleasure on the Day of Judgment, it is essential for every Muslim to achieve at least the status of a 'Mu'min' (believer).

Q-19:76

And as for those who follow the Hidaya, Allah increases them in guidance (Hidaya).

Third: Muttaqi (Pious).

These are the Muslims who, alongside divine guidance, have attained the highest degrees of righteousness (Taqwa). Allah Almighty gives these Muttaqeen (Pious/ righteous) servants the glad tidings of *Jannat-ul-Firdaws* (the highest abode of the Paradise of Eden) and guides these sincere servants of His toward the station of *Imam-ul-Muttaqin* (the leaders of the righteous).

Q-47:17

As for those who have found guidance, He increases them in guidance and grants them their righteousness (Taqwa).

Fourth: Imam-ul-Muttaqin.

In the Holy Quran, Allah Almighty has also given the glad tidings of *Jannat-e-Na’eem* to the *Muttaqeen* (Pious men). Undoubtedly, these are Imam-ul-Muttaqeen. who surpass others in the presence of Allah through piety, patience, and justice, and in society through their exemplary character. Allah Almighty will admit these foremost and Imam servants of His into the "Jannat-un-Naeem", Because *Jannat-e-Na’eem* is reserved for Allah’s chosen and distinguished Imam servants—the Messengers, Prophets, the truthful, the martyrs, and the righteous.

Q-68:34

Indeed, for the righteous (Muttaqeen), there are “Paradise of Naeem” (Paradise of Bliss) with their Lord.

Q-04:69

And whoever obeys Allah and the Messenger, they will be with those upon whom Allah has bestowed His favor: the prophets, the steadfast affirmers of truth, the martyrs, and the righteous. And what excellent companions they are!

Fifth: Al-Muqarrab. (The Near One).

These are the chosen servants of Allah whom He has endowed with knowledge from Himself; they are the prophets and messengers who, by Allah’s command, deliver glad tidings and warnings, In the Hereafter, too, these servants of Allah—who are close to Him—will be the heirs of the Paradise of His nearness: namely, *Jannat-ul-Na‘eem* (also known as *Jannat-ul-Ma’wa*).

Q-56:10-12

And the foremost—they are indeed the foremost. (10) These are the ones who have been brought near [to Allah]. (11) They will be in gardens of bliss. (12)

Q-03:45

When the angels said: "O Mary! Indeed, Allah gives you the good news of a Word from Him, whose name shall be the Messiah, Jesus, son of Mary. He shall be honored in this world and In the Hereafter, they will be among those nearest to Allah (Al-Muqarrab)."
